Stamped & Decorative Concrete From JR Concrete & Design
Stamped concrete is poured concrete that is colored and imprinted with patterns while it is still workable, so it looks like natural stone, brick, slate or wood plank. You get the character of premium materials with the strength of a concrete slab.
Good stamped work is about timing and technique: correct color, the right release agents, patterns that line up cleanly and a sealer that protects the finish. We walk you through samples and patterns so you know what you are getting before we start.
What’s Included
- Pattern, texture and color selection with samples
- Integral color and color hardeners or release agents for depth
- Stamping timed to the concrete for crisp detail
- Control joints hidden along pattern lines where possible
- Professional sealing for color, stain and wear protection
- Full cleanup and care instructions
Decorative options
- Stamped patterns: Ashlar slate, flagstone, cobblestone, brick, wood plank and more.
- Exposed aggregate: The top layer is washed away to reveal natural stone. Durable and slip-resistant.
- Colored & stained: Integral color, stains and borders in almost any palette.
- Borders & accents: Combine stamped bands with a plain center to control cost and add detail.
Getting an Exact Price
Every stamped concrete project is priced individually, because size, site access, demolition, base conditions and finish all change the scope. One of our owners visits your property at no charge, measures the job and talks through your options. Your written quote then lists base prep, thickness, reinforcement, concrete PSI, demolition and finish on separate lines, so you can see what each part costs and what you are getting for it.

Stamped & Decorative Concrete FAQs
How often does stamped concrete need to be sealed?
Plan on resealing about every 2 to 3 years. Sealing protects the color and surface from UV, stains and wear, and keeps stamped concrete looking new. Driveways and sun-exposed areas may need it a little sooner.
Is stamped concrete slippery?
Sealed stamped concrete can get slick when wet. We can add an anti-slip additive to the sealer, which is especially worth doing around pools, steps and shaded areas.
Will stamped concrete crack?
All concrete can crack. We place control joints, often hidden in the pattern lines, so any cracking follows planned lines and stays inconspicuous instead of wandering across the surface.
Is stamped concrete worth the extra cost?
For visible areas like patios, pool decks, entries and driveway aprons, usually yes. It delivers a look that would cost far more in natural stone or pavers, with less maintenance.
