Concrete Driveways From JR Concrete & Design
Your driveway is the first thing people see and the surface your vehicles use every day, so it needs to be built right, not just poured. We handle the whole job: removing the old driveway if there is one, grading and compacting the base, forming, reinforcing, pouring, finishing and cleaning up.
Most driveway failures are not concrete problems, they are preparation problems: a poorly compacted base, no drainage plan, missing control joints or reinforcement left out to save time. We explain exactly what goes under and inside your driveway before you sign anything.
What’s Included
- Demolition and haul-away of the existing driveway (if needed)
- Grading, drainage planning and a properly compacted base
- Forming and steel reinforcement (rebar or wire mesh, chosen for the site)
- Standard 4-inch thickness, or thicker for RVs, trucks and heavy loads
- Control joints placed to guide cracking into clean lines
- Finish of your choice: broom, smooth trowel, colored, exposed aggregate or stamped border
- Curing, cleanup and a walkthrough when the job is complete
Driveway finish options
- Broom finish: The classic. Slip-resistant, easy to maintain and the most affordable.
- Exposed aggregate: Textured stone look that hides stains and wear. Great grip.
- Colored or stained: Integral color or a stain to match your home, from warm tans to charcoal.
- Stamped border or accents: A decorative band or apron that upgrades curb appeal without paying for full stamping.
Getting an Exact Price
Every driveway project is priced individually, because size, site access, demolition, base conditions and finish all change the scope. One of our owners visits your property at no charge, measures the job and talks through your options. Your written quote then lists base prep, thickness, reinforcement, concrete PSI, demolition and finish on separate lines, so you can see what each part costs and what you are getting for it.
Free on-site estimate. Call 323-515-0020 or use the form and we will schedule a visit, measure the project and give you clear written pricing.
Concrete Driveways FAQs
How long until I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
Plan on walking on it after 24 to 48 hours and driving cars on it after about 7 days. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks: it reaches roughly full design strength at 28 days, so we recommend keeping heavy trucks off until then.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
Four inches is the standard for residential driveways carrying cars and light trucks. For RVs, dump trucks or frequent heavy vehicles, 5 to 6 inches with added reinforcement is the safer choice.
How long does a driveway replacement take?
Most residential driveways take a few days on site: demolition and base prep first, then forming and the pour, then curing. Weather, access and the size of the driveway change this, and we give you a realistic schedule with your quote.
Do I need a permit for a new driveway?
The part of a driveway that crosses the sidewalk or parkway (the driveway approach) is public right-of-way and usually needs a city permit. Requirements differ by city, and we will tell you what applies to your address during the estimate.
